FORCED LABOR SOCIETY
As a result of ethnographic research conducted between 1948 and 1986 by prison guard Danzig Baldaev, more than 3,000 prison guard tattoo drawings were collected in his personal records.
The Forced Labor Society is a set of 25 embroidered black silks honoring the work of Baldaev's archives. Using silk as skin and thread as ink, this set of flags reflects imaginary memories and thoughts of freedom in the minds of the inmates.
